Our band is open to all adults who share a love of music and community service. No auditions are necessary and you don't need to be a great musician. Many of our members are returning to music after years of not playing, some are just learning to play, and some have played a lifetime. All are welcome!
To join our band simply email us or come to a rehearsal. See our rehearsal page for information. Check our calendar for specific dates and times. You are welcome to just drop in and observe anytime. There is a $50 tuition, per trimester, to join but you are welcome to give us a try for free before becoming a member.
We accept tuition by check or cash in person. We also accept tuition via PayPal if you would like to use a credit card. Just click on the button below if you want to pay electronically. Please note that there is a $2.00 service charge, per person, to use PayPal.
Teachers may earn 30 continuing education clock hours (per trimester) through Music Center of the Northwest. Sign up for both our band tuition and clock hours by going to the Music Center website and registering for "Concert Band Techniques and Literature." Do not register on this website if you want clock hours.
Around the Sound Community Band Tuition Policy:
As an organization, Around the Sound Community Band depends almost solely on its tuition to meet expenses. This makes it necessary for tuition to be looked at as a prime responsibility of band members.
Tuition for Around the Sound Community Band is due on the first rehearsal of the trimester. Tuition is payable in cash, by personal check, or by PayPal online (subject to a service charge). For record keeping checks are preferable. An announcement should be made at the first rehearsal of each trimester. It may also be announced at the end of the session to be sure to bring your checkbooks on the first rehearsal of the next trimester.
Tuition can be accepted by any of the board members. It will be passed on to the treasurer at the first available opportunity. The collection of tuition will be on a general notification basis for the first three rehearsals of the trimester.
After three weeks tuition will be considered in arrears. It will then be the responsibility of the treasurer to contact personally the people who have not paid. These things should be emphasized:
1. The financial health of the organization requires that tuition be paid in a timely manner.
2. That tuition is considered delinquent at 6 weeks into the trimester.
3. If there are extenuating circumstances these need to be discussed with any board member, who will ask for a note stating why and the amount of the requested assistance.
At 6 weeks into the trimester the tuition is delinquent. At this time a final written notification will be sent to the person via the secretary. If the person does not pay tuition at the next rehearsal they will be stricken from the membership roles and will be notified in person and via e-mail that they are no longer members in good standing and their participation in band has been terminated.
Any member not in good standing cannot perform in any concerts or attend any rehearsals until the matter is resolved. The arrears tuition will be paid before the person may rejoin the band another trimester.
